Integrated, Systematic, and Scaffolded

Children learn best when they can make connections across many disciplines. We ingrate math, early literacy, social studies, science, social-emotional development, creative arts, physical movement, health, and technology (pre-k and kindergarten) throughout the curriculum.
Children retain new information when it connects with previous knowledge and experiences. We present new information in a logical and linear fashion, beginning with simple concepts and moving to advanced understanding through a continuum where skills and concepts are reviewed, revisited, and expanded.

Standards-Based

Our preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten curriculum frameworks establish clear and developmentally appropriate goals for children’s learning that follows Utah’s Prek and kindergarten state standards and Common Core Standards.

Balanced Instruction and Exploration

Teachers facilitate learning using various methods.

• Teacher-directed instruction (age-appropriate) provides a framework to ensure that children receive target skills, concepts, and strategies.
• Learning center and exploration times provide children time and opportunity to explore and experiment with what they have learned.
• Our play-based, hands-on approach integrates math, science, health, creative arts, social studies, physical movement, early literacy, and social-emotional development to provide a well-rounded early education experience.

Lolie Eccles Early Education Center classrooms are offered for children ages six weeks to six years old.

Group Size

Children are divided during the day into groups according to their age. The size of the group is determined by the room space, the age of the children, number of staff, state licensing rules, and accreditation standards. Our program meets the NAEYC standards for adult to child ratio.
