Lolie Eccles Early Education Center at the YWCA Utah is excited to announce our 2019 summer camp program for children ages 5-12! This year, Summer Camp hours are from 7:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m.

The YWCA Summer Camp seeks to create a well-rounded summer of learning, fun, and adventure! Our program provides daily field trips, awesome activities, a sense of community and long lasting friendships when you leave.

Morning and afternoon snacks are included. Bring your own lunch and water bottle.

Outings & Activities

When we aren't out and about for each week's themed activities, we will utilize the equipment and many play areas that our YWCA campus offers. With a fully equipped gym space, open green space field, and playground, we will play organized games, team-building activities, and give the children plenty of creative free-play. We will also benefit from a classroom which is fully furnished with games, books, computers, learning activities, and creative art supplies to embrace your child's interests. We are also partnering with some amazing local programs, including Westminster College's Health, Wellness and Athletic Center and Wasatch Community Gardens.

2019 Summer Camp Tuition is $250/week, when camp falls on a short week due to a holiday, 80% of the full week fee will be charged. Summer camp registration is for the full week and is not available on a per day basis.

STEM legobotMad Scientists

June 10th-14th 

Join us as we kick off the summer with amazing STEM activities. Have you ever wanted to be a rocket scientist?  Shoot for the stars as you learn what is takes to build your own rocket…space suits are not required! Create your own hovercraft using household items.  Learn how glass terrariums changed the world by creating your very own miniature environment.  Bubble-ology will test your mixing skills as you attempt to create giant bubbles.  Travel to Hill Aerospace Museum and take a look at the behemoths of the sky…truly an AWE-mazing experience.  We will delve into the mysteries of dry ice and work as a team to cushion our eggs before they fall from the wall!   To round out the week we will explore the Discovery Gateway Museum and make a stop at the International Peace Gardens.  It’s sure to be an egg-cellent time!  

IMG 5508Under the Sea and Into the Stars

June 17th-June 21st

This week will be filled with adventures from sea, land and sky!  Grab your scuba gear and join us as we dive into underwater discoveries and escapades through rainforests and deserts at Sea Quest Interactive Aquarium.  We will get wet and wild at Mountain View Park and Splash Pad and hit the lanes at the University of Utah bowling alley to try for the elusive turkey!  We will head to outer space and explore where no man has gone before as we settle into the Clark Planetarium’s IMAX Theater and exhibits.  Finally, we will hit the Suncrest Trail and hike our way through majestic fields of wildflowers and take in the views. It is a week filled with out of this world adventures!

June 24th-June 28th

Let’s go on another adventure, but this time it’s not a where, but a when.  The week will start out with a bronc bustin’ goodtime as we make our way to the Wild West Playground in South Jordan.  Step into a time machine and travel back to the days of the Pioneers’ as we pay a visit to “This is the Place” Heritage Park.  You’ll experience what life was like as a pioneer as you pan for gold, beat a rug, and visit The Native American Village to learn about the tribes of northern and southern Utah. We will creep up to Timpanogos Cave, exploring the cave and things that crawl in the dark!  Experience farm life as we explore Wheeler Historic Farm to try our hand as a blacksmith, bread maker or butter churner!   To end the week we will travel back to prehistoric times where dinosaurs roamed the land! At The Ogden Dinosaur Park we will meander through life size dinosaur replicas and use our paleontology skills!   It’ll be a time warp worth repeating!

July 1st-July 5th (Camp closed July 4th)

Jump… Dodge…and Roll your way into a week filled with acrobatics and hardcore moves.  Join us as we create a game of epic proportions before heading over to the Wairhouse Trampoline Park where we will flip, fly, and bounce through the air.  At the South Davis Ice Rink we will glide, slide, and aim to shoot the duck! We will continue to beat the heat as we take in a summer blockbuster!  Being a ninja takes practice, so what better way to end our week than spending the day honing our skills at Obstacle Warrior Kids Sandy…end goal Parkour Master!  

climbingWandering the Wasatch

July 8th-July 12th

This week we will wander the Wasatch Front from Ogden to Orem in search of amazing adventures. We will kick off the week by perusing the natural beauty of Red Butte Gardens.  At The All-Together Playground in Orem we will play, explore and work side-by-side with children of all abilities.  Have you ever wanted to live in the trees? Our luxurious UTA Frontrunner will speed us north to The Treehouse Museum in Ogden. We will climb our way to the top of the Westminster climbing wall and learn what it takes to be a collegiate athlete. What better way to end the week than scrambling up the 25 foot fire tower and making a quick exit down the twisty slide or getting soaked by the waterfall at Wardle Fields Park and Splash pad. You don’t want to miss this week of wandering wonders!

July 15th-July 19th

Lions, tigers, and birds…oh my! Look to the sky as we take flight at the Tracy Aviary where we will see birds from around the world.  Make a splash or be splashed by the elusive bucket at Kearns Oquirrh Swimming Pool…water beasts welcome! We will hit the road in search of the hidden Gilgal Garden. We’ll hop on over to Kangaroo Zoo where they have monstrous three story inflatables! End the week exploring the African savannah and the artic as we spend the day at Utah’s Hogle Zoo. It will be a roaring goodtime!

July 22nd-July 26th (Camp closed July 24th) 

Join us as we head out on a week worth of curious adventures! We’ll spend the day exploring Creekside Park in Bountiful. At the Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point we will try to satiate our curiosity by exploring and interacting with the exhibits.  Nielson’s Grove Park in Orem will have us marveling at the wonders of the six-seater carousel swing. We won’t forget to make a stop at The Leonardo Museum and build our imaginations with new integrated principles from science, technology, engineering, math, and the arts!  To round out our week we will cool off at the Murray’s beach entrance swimming pool. Curiosity won’t stop these cats!

IMG 01741Let’s Get Wet…Let’s Get Dirty…No More Showers Until We’re 30!

July 29th-August 2nd

This week is all about beating the heat! Grab your towel and join us as start our week at Sandy Amphitheater Splash Pad and Park.  At Magna Recreation Center we will swim and slide into the history books!  We’ll head over to Trolley Square and take a tour before settling in for lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory.  Vineyard Sports and Splash Park will have us questioning how to climb the giant rope spiral. To top off the week will head up Big Cottonwood Canyon searching for moose as we hike the Twin Lakes Trail.

August 5th-August 9th

Grab your chests and join us for a week of treasure hunting!  We begin by walking the planks of the Silver Lake Trail in search of peace at Lake Solitude.  We’ll make waves at the South Davis Recreation Center pool. Our urban treasure hunt will lead us to a dreaded pirate, buried treasure, and a pirate party!  Once we’ve uncovered the treasure we will spend our loot at Nickel-Mania.  To end the week we will continue our hunt and trek through the forest to find the ultimate natural treasure at Stewart Falls…Argh Matey!

Wasatch Community GardensIt’s the Final Countdown

August 12th-August 15th (Camp closed August 16th)

This week will not disappoint as summer comes to a close! We will cruise up Little Cottonwood Canyon, take a hike, and explore Mother Nature.  You may end up wet as we spend the day at Ellison Splash Pad and Park.  At Gardner Village we will find the answers to clues and visit the petting zoo! We will end our final week with a huge bang at All Star Bowling and Entertainment…bumper cars…mini golf…arcade games and more. That’s a wrap!
